ALL mobile money booth owners and agents in Chingola will now be required to pay for the trading permit annually as opposed to the monthly fee charges,’’ the Chingola Municipal Council (CMC) has said.
Council Assistant Public Relations Manager Nambela Kyombela said those in the central business district (CBD) will be required to pay K732 annually, while those in peripheral areas will be paying K565 respectively.
Ms Kyombela said the payments should not be paid to individuals, but should be remitted to the civic centre revenue offices.
“Following the decision by the local authority for all mobile money booth owners and agents in Chingola to pay for the trading permit annually as opposed to the monthly fee charges, those in the CBD will be required to pay K732 annually, while those in peripheral areas will be paying K565 respectively.
“These payments should be remitted to the civic centre revenue offices and not to individuals. Those who will decide to pay to individuals, they will be doing so at their own risk,’’ Ms Kyombela said
Ms Kyombela said all mobile money booth owners and agents should place copies of certificates of Installation permits on their premises or stations of operations.
All operators should comply as there will be stringent actions taken against those that would not comply,’’ she said.
And some booth operators talked to, like George Katebe said the decision by the local authority was a relief as paying monthly became a challenge for many due to the adverse effects of Covid-19.
