MWALITETA U-TURNS ON CADRES

BY ADRIAN MWANZA

UPND will respect the president’s counsel not to send cadres in markets and bus stations, UPND Lusaka province chairperson, Obvious Mwaliteta has said.

Mr Mwaliteta said the party would not go against the president’s directive and that no camps would be formed in the markets.

Mr Mwaliteta who said that cadres would be unleashed in stations but would not be receiving any taxes and levies but would be tasked to give extra security to council officers rescinded his decision after Republican President Hakainde Hichilema rebutted the move.

He said he would not go against his boss and that he held the President in high esteem which prompted him to respect the decision passed by him.

‘’I think it is only prudent that we follow what the President has said because he means well for us and as a party we going to respect his guidance,’’ he said.

Mr Mwaliteta said that cadres were allowed to return and trade as normal Zambian citizens without intimidating anyone.

He called on his cadres not to engage themselves in lawlessness and put the name of the party in disrepute by involving themselves in criminal activities.

“The party is a law abiding entity and we are not going to be labelled as criminals most especially that the President has given us a road map,’’ he said.
