NEW AIRPORT RESUMES OPERATIONS TODAY

THE newly constructed Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport in Ndola will today start full operations.
Zambia Airports Corporation Limited (ZACL) Communications and Brand Manager Mweembe Sikaulu has confirmed.
Passengers have therefore been advised to use the new facility as the old airport would no longer be managed by the corporation.
The newly commissioned Airport has the capacity of one (1) million passengers per annum, three (3) aero bridges, a new Fire and Rescue Service Station, a Cargo Terminal, Business Complex, Aircraft Maintenance Hangar and an Airport Fuel Farm.
The airport is also expected to house a 50 roomed luxury hotel in future which would be managed by a renowned hotel group.
“ZACL wishes to inform its esteemed clients and the general public that the new Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport (SMKIA) located in Ndola, is fully operational as of today, Thursday 7th October2021.
“Passengers are advised to use the new facility which is located off the Ndola-Kitwe dual carriage way near Ndola Girls National Technical School and the Dag Hammarskjold Memorial Site,” Ms Sikaulu said.
She said the old airport located in Itawa, would no longer be a commercial airport and would no longer be managed by the corporation.
