Veep lauds women cooperative
VICE President Mutale Nalumango says Government is determined to see an increase in indigenous Zambian products on the market and has called on young people and women to step up and work together to produce good quality products.
Ms Nalumango said Government is willing to support local initiatives that increase productivity, stating that the main chain stores are open to buy local products, provided that quality and consistency is guaranteed.
Ms Nalumango said this in a speech read for her by Commerce, Trade and Industry Minister Chipoka Mulenga at the land handover ceremony by the Dynamic Developers Women Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited in Lusaka yesterday.
She commended the women’s cooperative for aiming to revive and promote the growth of cooperatives.
“Government is determined to see an increase in local Zambia products on the market. As government we are excited to support local initiatives that will spur productivity.
“Our main chain stores are open to purchasing local products on condition that quality and consistence of products is guaranteed,” Ms Nalumango said
She said Government will endeavour to support the development of cooperatives provided they produce good quality products than can compete on the local and international market.
And speaking at the same occasion, Dynamic Developers Women Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited chairperson Enala Zulu said the cooperative has already handed over more than 800 hectares to their members, with emphasis on team work to achieve more. – ZANIS.
