$800, 000 THEFT CASE WITHDRAWN?
By LUCY PHIRI
LUSAKA businessman Lloyd Chinjenge, 42, has applied to withdraw the case against two lawyers and a police officer in which they were accused of theft of $800, 000 dollars.
This is a matter in which Mutemwa Mutemwa snr, his son Mutemwa Mutemwa Jnr and a detective Chief inspector Dennis Mano Kayombo were arrested for stealing U$ 800,000 property of Lloyd Chinjenge of house number 2415 ibex hill.
Chinjenge said he has decided to withdraw the matter against the accused after deep reflection of how they relate with each other
“I have decided to withdraw my case based on these reasons; Firstly Mr Mutemwa is my lawyer and he is the one to be advising me with this matter which cannot happen because of this matter, secondly I still have an ongoing transaction with the counsel and thirdly I thought by complaining there would be no persecutions but instead an opportunity for the parties to meet,” Chinjenge said.
Chinjenge told the court it is against his Christian values to go on with the matter and it would have been unfair if he continued with the court proceedings.
In count one, Mr Mutemwa and two others on October 19, 2021 jointly stole US$800,000, the property of Lishandu Chinjenge
In count two, detective chief inspector Kayombo, from Lusaka Central Police Station, is charged with theft by public servant.
In this matter, Residence magistrate Dominic Makalicha will make a ruling on December 8.
