CHIEF Chibwika of the Lunda speaking people in Mwinilungahas called on his subjects to take the Covid-19 vaccination seriously. Chief Chibwika said the Covid-19 vaccine is one of the major preventive measures the government has put in place to combat the pandemic hence need for people in his chiefdom to get vaccinated. He said this during a vaccination exercise held in his chiefdom where all his headmen received the jab. He said as a way of showing leadership to his subjects, him together with his headmen and women have openly taken the jab a thing he said will encourage the rest of his subjects to do the same. “It is difficult to ask our subjects to take the jab if we the leaders have not,” he said. The traditional leader added that apart from taking the jab, the leadership in the Chiefdom is taking time to sensitise the community on the importance of taking the Covid- 19 vaccine. “So I am calling on all the Chibwika chiefdom residents to take the Covid-19 jab as a way of preventing ourselves,” Chief Chibwika said. Meanwhile, District Health Director, Brian Mwachisowa said the step taken by Chief Chibwika and his headmen is commendable and should be emulated by all traditional leaders as it will help their subjects accept to take the vaccine. “The step you have taken your royal Highness should be emulated by all traditional leadership,” he said.
