APPOINTMENTS from the republican President are very important to be shunned by any patriotic Zambian who want to contribute to economic recovery and national development ” Mwenya Musenge has said. Mr Musenge, who was yesterday appointed National Democratic Congress (NDC) president following the appointment of party president Charles Rikki Akafumba as Home Affairs Permanent secretary, said he will strive to grow the party and take it to greater heights When asked if he would also leave the party in somebody else’s arms if President Hakainde Hichilema appointed him to some position, Mr Musenge said appointments from the republican President were too important to shun.

Mr Musenge said NDC was in alliance with the ruling UPND so it was important if President Hichilema appoint members of the alliance, accept the appointment and proceed to serve Zambians under the able leadership of President Hichilema “Appointments from the republican President are very important to be shunned and so, if i was also given an opportunity to serve in any position, i would accept and proceed to serve the nation to the best of my ability.

“As you know, we are in the alliance with the UPND and so we should be willing and able to serve in various positions in which President Hichilema wants us to serve” Mr Musenge said Mr Musenge said, in his new role as NDC President, he will strive to promote unity and take the party to greater heights and advancing the agenda of the UPND under the leadership of President Hichilema He said President Hichilema had set the stage for economic recovery and national development hence the need to support him to ensure an easy victory in the 2026.
