IT’S ALL LIES SAYS JAY JAY – I DON’T OWE ANY CAR HIRE COMPANY MONEY, SAYS PETAUKE MP

By SIMON MUNTEMBA
CLAIMS that I have failed to pay K100, 000 for hiring vehicles during campaigns are falsehoods aimed at denting my reputation by my political competitors, says Petauke Central Member of Parliament, Emmanuel ‘Jay Jay’ Banda.
Mr Banda told the Daily Nation in an interview that reports that he was dragged to court for failing to pay K100, 000 car hire bills were false because as far as he was concerned, he did not owe any car hire company money.
He said as far as he was concerned, he conducted a successful campaign and paid all those he engaged to help him.
His remarks came after one of Zambia’s tabloid reported on Wednesday that Mr Banda was dragged to court for failure to pay car hire bills after he engaged a Mr Jonathan Shawa to hire vehicles on his behalf from Rejave Car Hire during the August 12, 2021 general elections.
“My brother, I can assure you that this is a false story. I am a businessman apart from being a politician and I cannot fail to pay K100, 000 if I hired vehicles. Besides, I don’t remember engaging Mr. Shawa to hire vehicles for me.
“The whole thing is all about some people who hate me for whatever reason, trying to dent my good name by throwing mud at me so that I look bad in the eyes of the public. But this time around, I will not allow them,” Mr Banda said.
He added, “I challenged those accusing me of owing them money to prove their claims with signed contract, or else I will take legal action against them.”
Mr Banda said he had in the past been accused of all sorts of bad things, but would never allow the trend to continue.
