LIFT ECL IMMUNITY – UPND
By ADRIAN MWANZA A PETITION seeking to revoke the immunity of former head of state Edgar Chagwa Lungu’simmunity has been presented to President Hakainde Hichilemaby UPND Lusaka Province and Nangoma Foundation Zambia. But former Finance Minister in the MMD regime Dr KateleKalumba said it would be a folly for the president to act precipitately and warned of a bad ending if the law was not followed.
UPND Lusaka District Publicity Secretary Matomola Likwanyain an interview said they had presented the petition to the head of State so that they could commence proceedings to lift the immunity of Mr Lungu. He said some of the reasons were that Mr Lungu was involved in the illegal Mukula trade scandal and also in the fire tender deals which needed to be explainedproperly. “I can confirm that we presented the petition today at State House for the head of State to look at it and move the motion to remove the immunity of the former President,” MrLikwanya said.
