UPND WANTS TO FRUSTRATE PF USING PETITIONS – CHABINGA

By ADRIAN MWANZA

THE United Party for National Development wants to frustrate the Patriotic Front through petitions, Mafinga member of Parliament Robert Chabinga has said

Speaking shortly after High Court sitting in Chinsali nullified the Nakonde seat, Mr Chabinga said that the party is not shaken with the outcome because it is the people of Nakonde who voted for the PF.

He said that instead of concentrating on fulfilling the promises that the UPND made to the people of Zambia, it is busy frustrating the PF.

Mr Chabinga said that the party will not accuse the judge over the ruling because the PF respects the judiciary.

Meanwhile, Mr Chabinga disclosed that the party will appeal in the ConCourt and that Mr Lukas Simumba will bounce back as MP.

And Mr Simumba has vowed to bounce back after the appeal in the Constitutional Court.

He accused the ruling UPND of trying to get rid of him because he is hard working and ready to deliver development in Nakonde.

Mr Simumba advised PF members to desist from engaging in violence as a result of the outcome of the court petition.

The Nakonde parliamentary seat was petitioned by UPND losing candidate Simon Simwanza.

And Lunte MP Mutotwe Kafwaya says he is not shaken by the nullification of his election.

Mr Kafwaya in an interview said he would consult his lawyers on the next move whether to appeal or not.

He said that the nullification was a major setback but that it did not have a permanent impact on the party.
