WWF donates Covid-19 materials to 4 Sioma, Sesheke schools

WORLD Wide Fund (WWF) for Nature Zambia and the Department of National Parks and Wildlife  (DNPW) has donated Covid-19 material worth one K107,672.00 to four schools in Sesheke and Sioma.

Speaking during the official handover ceremony to the schools, WWF-Zambia Community-Based Natural Resources Management Officer Miyoba Buumba said WWF through the KFW Covid-19 project received funding from the Germany government to provide relief in the areas of their operation.

Ms Buumba said Covid-19 has negatively affected different sectors of the economy among them tourism and education.

She disclosed that prevention against the spread of Covid-19 is one of the KFW Covid-19 objectives’.

Meanwhile, Department of National Parks and Wildlife in Sesheke Sector officer in charge Alex Sianga urged the beneficiaries to take precautions of the health guidelines.

And Sioma District Education Board Secretary Sibeso Silumesi thanked WWF and DNPW for the positive gesture. 

Among the donated materials are hand sanitizer, hand soap and face masks to Silolo primary and Kalobolelwa secondary school in Sesheke District and Sioma secondary and Nangweshisecondary school in Sioma District.

The donation is aimed at mitigating the negative effects of covid-19 in the two operational districts of WWF-Zambia in western province as the country anticipates the fourth wave in December and early January, 2022.
