CHINSALI CENTRAL NULLIFICATION

Dear editor,

IT’S disheartening to see the election of our brother Kalalwe Mukosa as Chinsali Central Member of Parliament being nullified and some section of society celebrating.

Firstly, these nullifications are coming with a cost to the parties involved and also the nation if  by-elections are called. Secondly, this is time wasting to have developmental agendas being put on the table right now. Other constituencies where we didn’t have petitions are already re-organizing Constituency Development Fund Committees and looking at constituency areas that need urgent attention. Alas, as in Chinsali we will be busy with this petition and by-election if at all the MP won’t appeal or if the Constitution Court upholds the High Court’s ruling.

Our Constitution needs serious ammendment to avoid these costly and time wasting by-elections and its my hope that President Hakahinde Hichilema will invest in the Constitution ammendment as he priotizes cost saving for the nation.

Ba Chinsali let’s not take pride in derailing our own developmental agenda. We need roads, we need clean water, we need improved agricultural system and opportunities, we need to create industries and boost tourism. We have no time for leisure.
