JUST IN: Former Home Affairs Minister Steven Kampyongo detained by police

Former home affairs minister Steven Kampyongo has been detained at Chelstone Police Station over a matter in which suspected PF cadres stoned a plane that was carrying UPND officials in Shiwang’andu in 2015 during campaigns.

PF chairperson for media and publicity Raphael Nakacinda confirmed the detention of Kampyongo by police at Chelstone Police but could not give further details.

It is believed police will take him to Shiwang’andu were the case was recorded.

8th December,2021 – Police have Detained and recorded a Warn and Cautioned Statement from Former Minister of Home Affairs Honourable Steven Kampyongo for the offence of Endangering Safety Contrary to Section 8(f) of CAP 445 Safety of Civil Aviation Act of the laws of Zambia.

Particulars of the Offence are that Honourable Steven Kampyongo with others are allegedly to have endangered the safety of an Aircraft and its Passengers.This occurred on the 2nd January 2015 at Kalalatekwe School grounds in Shiwangandu District in Muchinga Province.He is yet to be formerly charged and arrested at the place of commission of the offence.
