I AM living in fear as I have continued receiving death threats from unknown, Lusaka businessman, Goodward Mulubwa. who was recently shot at, has lamented.
Mr Mulubwa, 58, a close associate of former President Edgar Lungu, was on October 31, 2021 attacked at his house by five assailants armed with an AK47 rifle and two pistols who also robbed him of K50, 000 and $300 cash.
The victim, who had been in hospital sustained 22 gunshot wounds from the attack.
In an interview, Mr Mulubwa said he suspected that the attack was a well-organised plot by known individuals.
He said what was surprising was that a few days before the attack, he was receiving phone calls from some purported investigative officers who claimed to be investigating him.
Mr Mulubwa said the strange calls had continued and that he was now living in fear.
He said what was surprising was that his attackers appeared to be very sure that there was money in the house.
“When these people came in the house, they asked for boxes of money and even when they spoke to my wife, they said they had been sent for investigations. This is something I never wanted to speak about, but it is getting out of control. We are now living in fear,” said Mr Mulubwa.
He said his family had fled their house for fear of being killed.
“Anyway, God is there to protect me because they thought that they killed me and they wanted to paint the picture to the public that criminals have assassinated me when in fact not,” Mr Mulubwa said.
Mr Mulubwa said the unnecessary “torment” was unacceptable and demanded that justice prevails in the matter.
He said when he was attacked, he saw his guard among the same group of assailants and one of his neighbours, whose car was parked in his yard.
Mr Mulubwa said he also saw the ladder that thieves used to jump into his house through his neighbour’s house but that the police had not bothered to interrogate them despite giving out that information.
When contacted, Police spokesperson Rae Haamonga said the matter was still under investigation.
Meanwhile, police yesterday searched Mr Mulubwa’s farm in Mapili area.
According to a search warrant obtained by the Daily Nation, the police were looking for stolen motor vehicle, firearms, cash money and other illegal articles which was left with the guard despite him being home.
Police officers indicated that they found nothing.
