Chief Chibwika insists on new investor for KasenseliGold Mine
A CREDIBLE investor at Kasenseli Gold Mine who will prioritise interests and needs of the local people is needed, Chief Chibwika of the Lunda people in Mwinilunga has said.
He maintained that the chiefdom will not accept back Zambia Consolidated Copper Mines – Investment Holding (ZCCM-IH) and Zambia Gold Company (ZGC) to continue running the mine.
Chief Chibwika said his subjects’ desire is to see a new investor at the gold mine.
Speaking when North-Western Province Minister, Robert Lihefu paid a courtesy call on him in Mwinilunga yesterday, Chief Chibwika said he wants to see the mine operational soon so that his people can benefit from their natural resources.
And Mr Lihefu said Government is committed to ensuring that a good investor is engaged to run the mine.
Mr Lihefu said it is Government’s desire to see the local people benefit from the local resources and improve their living standards. – ZANIS.
