Health Minister SYLVIA MASEBO has warned Senior Medical Superintendents not to abuse their offices by sneaking in volunteers into the recruitment process.

Ms. MASEBO says her ministry will ensure volunteers are strictly scrutinized so that genuine ones are not disadvantaged.

She has warned that those who will be found wanting will be prosecuted.

Ms. MASEBO was speaking during her tour of Kapanda Mini Hospital in Mansa District today.

Earlier, Luapula Provincial Health Director PETER BWALYA said communities still use insecticide treated mosquito nets for fishing and fencing there yards.

And Senama First Level Hospital acting medical officer JOSE SULU said the health facility has no mortuary and a fully fledged theatre.

Dr. SULU said it is expensive for the community to transport the dead to Mansa General Hospital.

Meanwhile Mrs. MASEBO said there is need to come up with new strategies in the fight against malaria.

She said this is because government has failed to make the public understand the interventions put in place to fight the disease.

The Minister said there is need to change the messaging for malaria and to decentralize in door residual spraying.

She is of the view that indoor residual spraying should be done by councils while government focuses on policy making.
