The Ministry of Finance has released funds for emergency works on the dilapidated Mufulira-Mokambo road on the Copperbelt.
This follows a recent announcement by Infrastructure Minister CHARLES MILUPI that the strategic road which leads to the Pedicle road in the Democratic Republic of Congo -DRC- will be rehabilidated soon.
Kantanshi Member of Parliament ANTHONY MUMBA has told ZNBC News in an interview in Mufulira that the Ministry of Finance has released the funds and a contractor will soon be on site to work on the road.
Mr. MUMBA has thanked government saying the road has become impassable because of the pools of water and potholes.
He said the Mokambo Road is of economic importance as it connects Copperbelt to Luapula and Northern Provinces as well as the DRC.
Mr. MUMBA said the people of Mufulira are happy that works will soon commence because the road has been in a bad state for a long time.
