PeP PETITIONS CONCOURT

PeP PETITIONS CONCOURT

By NATION REPORTER

THE Constitutional Court must stop the Electoral Commission of Zambia from getting fresh nomination fees from candidates for the KabwataParliamentary seat because they already paid, Patriots for Economic Progress (PeP) president Sean Tembo has said.

Mr. Tembo said those who already paid the K15, 000 should not be made to pay again because that would disadvantage small political parties.

This is according to a petition filed in the constitutional court, in which Mr Tembosued the ECZ

Mr Tembo argued that the decision by ECZ to demand for fresh payment was irrational and unfair to those that had already paid.

On Friday, the ECZ called for fresh nomination for the election which will be held in February 3, 2022 in Kabwata.

The date for the by-election was pushed forward after the UPP Candidate withdrew from the race and resigned from his party.
