UPND MOCKS OPPOSITION – Opposition are psyching their members for imminent defeat in Kabwata, says Anderson Banda

By SIMON MUNTEMBA

AFTER sensing defeat in the Kabwata Parliamentary by election, the desperate opposition political parties have now started linking the ruling party to fake attacks as a way of preparing the minds of their members, the UPND has said.

UPND Lusaka Province youth chairperson, Anderson Banda who denied allegations that his party members attacked the Socialist Party in Kabwata campaigns on Saturday, said the accusations were coming from desperate opposition psyching their members for imminent defeat.

In an interview, Mr Banda told the Daily Nation that it was not true that UPND members were involved in attacks on Socialist members in Kabwata.

Mr Banda said if at all the attack really happened, the Socialist Party members could have been fighting amongst themselves and not with UPND which believed in issue-based and peaceful campaigns.

“Basically, UPND is definitely winning with a wide margin, and in the next few days remaining, you will see a lot of propaganda against the UPND as an excuse for their imminent loss from parties like Socialist Party and PF. So, as   provincial youth chairman, I am not aware of that attack. My party was not involved, we do not believe in violent campaigns. We believe in issued based campaigns,” Mr Banda said.

He said the opposition should stop being cry baby parties whenever they sensed danger but accept that UPND was the people’s choice.

Mr Banda also said the opposition political parties must realize that politics of character assassinations, insults and mudslinging were outdated.
