Chief Ntambu of the Lunda People in Mwinilunga district of Northwestern province has threatened to commence procedures to have his chiefdom realigned to the neighboring Kalumbila district if his chiefdom continues being what he terms sidelined.
Chief Ntambu laments that for a long time now his chiefdom has been sidelined in government’s development activities at district level for unexplained reasons which is making his Royal Establishment to feel no longer part of the district.
He cited the allocation of nine health posts to the district out of which none was given to his chiefdom when other chiefdoms in the area received more than two.
“We feel we are not part of this district any more . So if that behavior continues we will realign ourselves from Mwinilunga to Kalumbila district,” he said.
ZANIS reports that the traditional leader said this when Mwinilunga District Commissioner Harrison Kamuna paid a courtesy call on him at his palace yesterday.
He told the District Commissioner that together with his subjects they are ready to support government programs in the district on condition that there be change among district officials in handling developmental affairs.
In response, Mr Kamuna assured chief Ntambu that under his leadership, he will endeavor to engage all the chiefs in the district on various developmental and governance issues.
“I can assure you, your royal highness that under me, I will treat all chiefs as equal,” he said.
He said government under the leadership of President Hakainde Hichilema is resolved to run an inclusive government adding that his office remains open to everyone. – ZANIS
