ARROWS WARY OF ZESCO THREAT

By MICHAEL MIYOBA

DESPITE Zesco United’s failure to reduce Red Arrows five-point lead at the summit of the Super League table after a 1-1 draw with Kafue Celtics on Saturday, Red Arrows coach Chisi Mbewe believes Zesco will giving the “Airmen” tough competition in their quest to win their second FAZ Super League title.

Mbewe admitted to be under pressure from Zesco, Green Eagles, Power Dynamos and Nkana FC who are placed second, third, fourth and fifth on the log.

Arrows are unbeaten in the last 17 league games where they have picked 11 wins and six draws to lead the log with 43 points, five points ahead of Zesco who are on 38 points.

Despite the pressure from Zesco, Eagles, Power Dynamos and Nkana, Mbewe said Arrows is determined to win the Super League title which they first won 18 years ago.

“The belief to win the league is so high, I can give an example of the way we fought against Konkola Blades, we fought hard because it is a game we could have lost but the players knew what they wanted and what it means to come out with a point,” Mbewe said.

“What is important is that we have to continue working hard and believing.  Eventually we will see where the good Lord will take us,” Mbewe said.

“If you look at the points, we are five points ahead but the teams that are coming behind us are putting pressure on us, the most important thing is we need to continue working hard.”

Arrows will meet Eagles in their next assignment and Mbewe believes his charges will need to improve on utilising their chances and keeping clean sheets to bounce back to winning ways after the draw with Konkola Blades on Saturday.
