Dicey ‘Home Affairs’ derby on – as Nkwazi take on Prison Leopards

By MICHAEL MIYOBA

AFTER recording a painful 2-1 defeat to Green Eagles last weekend, High Flying Nkwazi FC will seek to fly higher when they host their Home Affairs rivals Prison Leopards in today’s FAZ Super League derby at Edwin Imboela Stadium in Lusaka.

Nkwazi will also be aiming to maintain their dominance of the Home Affairs derby having beaten Prison Leopards the last time the two teams faced off.

Nkwazi’s assistant coach Keegan Phiri has declared his charges ready for the challenge which presents the Zambia Police Service-sponsored outfit the chance to recover from the loss to Green Eagles.

“We are just coming back from a loss in Choma, a very painful loss for that matter but as a team we have prepared for the game against Prison Leopards.

“It is a very important game for us because as you might be aware we just gained four points from the last three games which is not good for us to meet our intended target,” Phiri said.

Despite Nkwazi having struggled with seven defeats, one draw and two wins in the last 10 league games, Phiri believes the Police outfit has what it takes to finish the league in the top four to qualify for the Caf championships.

“We still have our target within sight. The game against Prisons is a ‘Home Affairs’ derby but we don’t have to attach so much emotions into this game we just have to approach it like a normal game, an important one for that matter and get the maximum three points,” Phiri said.

Nkwazi will be without centre back, Henry Besa who is nursing an injury and has been replaced by Lungson Mbewe who couldn’t play against his parent club, Green Eagles.

While Nkwazi are aiming to bounce back to winning ways, Prison Leopards will be seeking revenge for the 1-0 defeat suffered when Nkwazi visited Kabwe in the first round of the league.

Prison Leopards go into today’s clash with Nkwazi motivated by the 3-1 win over struggling Lusaka Dynamos.

Nkwazi will have to come up with ways to stop Francis Zulu and Landu Miete who were both on target in the previous game played in Kabwe.
