ECZ reported to ACC for inflating figures of logo

By ADRIAN MWANZA

THE Leadership Movement has reported the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) over the exorbitant fees paid for the artwork and logo.

ACC spokesperson Queen Chibwe said they had received the report from Leadership Movement and were studying the case before taking any action.

Ms Chibwe confirmed that they had received the report from the organisation but they had to first review it before the next course of action was taken.

“Yes, I can confirm that we received a complaint from the Leadership Movement who has complained over the amount the ECZ paid for the new logo,” he said.

She however said it was too early but the ACC would give a clear road map over the ECZ.

Meanwhile, Leadership Movement Media Director Tatila Tatila said they reported the ECZ for spending over K1 million on a logo that could have been done at a cheaper fee.

Mr Tatila said that ECZ was not above the law hence the need for the ACC to look into the matter.

He said it was wrong for ECZ to engage a company like Sign Wave and later spend over K1.5 million for works that could be accessed cheaply.
