Disband Local Govt Service Commission – Kambwili

By ADRIAN MWANZA

THE announcement by the Local Government Service Commission that they will conduct a qualification audit at the Lusaka City Council is just a ploy meant to fish out people they suspect were employed by the Patriotic Front,  PF presidential aspirant Chishimba Kambwili.

Mr Kambwili said it was evident that the move was just aimed at trying to see the people who were brought in by the previous regime because the UPND were suspicious.

He said the commission was just a waste of taxpayers’ money and it did not support decentralisation as it wanted to be doing the recruitment of staff itself and not councils.

Mr Kambwili said the commission was scared that almost all the civil servants were PF cadres and wanted to start this process to deal with such individuals.

“They want to employ their own people by claiming that those at the council are not qualified and fit for the job,” he said. He said that the move was just meant to hoodwink individuals by claiming that they were carrying out an audit when the goal was to fuse in relatives and UPND cadres. Mr Kambwili said that the Local Government Service Commission was a political body and those that were appointed on such boards were politically-inclined.

He said there was need to disband the commission because it did not serve any purpose and that it was shocking that people like Mr Jack Mwiimbu and Mr Gary Nkombo had made a U-turn on the commission when they were in opposition.

Mr Kambwili said that the move being taken by the chairperson of the commission, Mr Ackson Sejani, was not being done in good faith.
