KWACHA Member of Parliament did not take part in the protest that led to the suspension of 30 PF members of Parliament, Speaker of the National Assembly Nelly Mutti ruled yesterday.
Ms Mutti rescinded her decision and said the Mr Malanji did not participate in the protest of November 30, 2021, in the House.
The Speaker said upon a review of video footage, it has proved that Mr Malannji did not take part in the protest and therefore is excluded from the matter.
She said the mix up was due to Mr Malanji’s failure to respond to the letter written to him.
Ms Mutti said the suspension of the former foreign affairs minister was deeply regrettable and rendered an apology.
She said she had since directed the office of the clerk of the National Assembly to amend her earlier ruling.
Ms Mutti said all the PF members of Parliament who were identified to have participated in the protest were written to individually to exculpate themselves, and this included Mr Malanji.
The Speaker apologised for including the name of Mr Malanji to the list of those who protested.
