UPND frustrating DPP to have politically-sponsored prosecutions

By NAMO PHIRI

THE UPND is calling for the resignation of the DPP for them to have politically-sponsored prosecutions, Patriotic Front (PF) Lusaka Province chairperson Christopher Shakafuswa has said.

Mr Shakafuswa said the UPND had seen that the office of the DPP was being professional and was in a hurry to have a politically-aligned DPP to easily persecute the opposition.

Mr Shakafuswa was commenting on the ongoing debate where some members of the UPND are calling for the resignation of the DPP Ms Lilian Siyuni after she wrote to DEC questioning the re-arrest of Milingo Lungu, the former KCM provisional liquidator.

He said the current situation where the UPND were sending their cadres to give the DPP 48-hour ultimatums in which to resign should be condemned.

Mr Shakafuswa said it was unfortunate that the UPND wanted to use political hooligans to hound the DPP out of office. “It is a shame that members of the UPND are behaving in such an unlawful manner despite the fact that President Hakainde Hichilema promised to rule as provided for in the constitution,” he said.
