Church has lost voice –  PF

By SILUMESI MALUMO

THE church has lost its prophetic voice on pertinent national issues thereby leaving the voiceless and vulnerable citizens to untold misery, Patriotic Front (PF) Lusaka Province Secretary, Sam Zulu, has said.

Mr Zulu said in the recent past, Church had been playing a pivotal role on diverse governance issues in the country  but this was no longer the case.

He observed that the Church has compromised its standing and operates as non-governmental organisation as opposed to carrying out its mandate of offering guidance to government on pertinent national matters.

He further  said the Church was supposed to be seen championing unity and promoting moral uprightness in society.

“The Church must redeem itself in every respect and reclaim its neutral position by being non-partisan.

The Church cannot afford to be polarised at a time when the nation is faced with a serious breakdown of the rule of law.

“Where is the voice of the church when national assets in the mining sector are being given out to foreign companies at zero tax,” he said.

Mr Zulu said, “Where is the voice of  the Church when government is allowing embassies to fly LGBTIA flags on our soil.”

The Church, he said, must not fail God. It is time that the Church had meaningful engagements with government.
