Zambia on road to recovery – HH

By IRVIN MUYUMBWA

PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has assured that Zambia is on the road to resolve its debt crisis with all of the country’s creditors expected to meet on June 16, 2022.

President Hichilema says the creditors will meet under the common framework after China agreed to co-chair with France the creditors’ panel set up to renegotiate the country’s foreign debt.

The Head of State disclosed this during a church service at Life Cathedral Church in Chingola on the Copperbelt.

He says his administration is determined to reconstruct the country, taking into consideration the high debt

levels inherited from the previous regime.

He says Zambia is on the road to reconstruct its economy after having struggled to get creditors to sit together to get the debt relief so the resources can be directed to other sectors of the economy.

And President Hichilema says the new dawn administration has taken a decision to decongest prisons and also for every prisoner to be entitled to a mattress and blanket.

He also says his administration did not come into office to divide but unite the people, emphasising that there will be no more police brutality because when citizens know that their government is harmless, they too will disarm themselves.
