DIRECTOR of Public Prosecution Lillian Siyunyi  yesterday appeared before the Judicial Complaints Commission.

But many lawyers including civic leaders feel that Ms Siyuni will not get a fair hearing because all the cases raised are in court and it will be tantamount to subjudice for her to be tried before the conclusion of the matters.

Economic Front (EF) president Wynter Kabimba says Ms Siyuni would not get  a fair hearing because some of the people on the panel were compromised on account of their relationship with authorities.

Mr Kabimba said the DPP would not be given a fair hearing because the people handling the matter were professionally and personally compromised.

He said it was common knowledge that the hearing was a well-orchestrated move meant to hound out Ms Siyunyi.

“For me, I do not expect a fair hearing because the group that has been tasked to hear her case are compromised and machinations to have her out of office have been put in place with people staging fake protests just to frustrate her,” he said.

Meanwhile, Kabimba said the hearings against the DPP were contemptuous as all matters were in court.

Imppecable sources revealed that embattled MMD national secretary, Elizabeth Chitika demanded for a swift hearing because she lived in Kawambwa whilst she resided on Munali Road, in Chudleigh, Lusaka.

In her complaint, Ms Chitika claimed that the DPP refused to prosecute the case involving MMD vehicles.

The issue of the MMD vehicles was before High Court Judge Pixie Kasonde Yangailo on Cause No.2020/HP/0751.

“In a letter dated 8th July 2022, signed by JCC Secretary, Naisa Makelete, the DPP was summoned to answer to complaints raised and laid by UPND cadre, Moses Kalonde, Civil Society activist, Chama Fumba, Director General of the Drug Enforcement Commission Mary Chirwa, Ms. Elizabeth Chitika, National Secretary of the MMD, and former Director of Ultimate Insurance, Tobias Milambo.

He also said Ms Siyunyi’s request to President Hakainde Hichilema to lift the veil on her Oath of Office had not been answered which incapacitated her.
