Solwezi court transfers Nakacinda’s case to Lusaka for allocation

By NATION REPORTER

THE Solwezi Subordinate Court has ruled that it has no jurisdiction to hear the matter in which a Patriotic Front official, Raphael Nakacinda, is charged with defamation of the President.

Nakacinda is a member of the PF central committee and chairperson for information.

The ruling comes after his lawyers challenged the jurisdiction of the court to try a matter when the alleged offence was committed in Lusaka.

In her ruling, Magistrate Tamara Kakusa agreed with the defence stating she has no jurisdiction and in turn transferred the matter to the Chief Resident Magistrate in Lusaka for reallocation.

This means that Nakacinda will now be appearing in Lusaka.

Nakacinda is being represented by Ndola-based lawyers, Mr Noel Simwanza and Mr Y. Simukonda and Lusaka-based lawyer, Mr Joseph Chirwa.
