South PF irked with continued detention of Mumbi Phiri

By ANDREW MUKOMA

SOME PF members in Southern Province have claimed that Ms Mumbi Phiri’s name was deliberately being left out of the cause list for persons facing none bailable offences to appear before the High Court in Mongu, Western Province.

Provincial Youth Information and Publicly Secretary, Paul Silungwe has charged that the continued incarceration of Ms Phiri is nothing other than politics being played by the new dawn administration.

“If the new dawn administration thinks this is the way they are going to silence and treat PF members just like they are doing to Mumbi Phiri, then that is not right. This is because if you  look at Ms Mumbi Phiri, why are they not taking her to court instead of keeping her in detention,” he wondered.

“This scenario of the way the new dawn administration is treating PF members clearly shows that they have a grudge but they are forgetting that they  won and they are the people who are ruling,” he said.

“Let them cleanse this nation that is when we are going to know that they mean well to the people.

If they want to show that they mean well by mistreating and detaining PF members like the way they are doing, then they are not doing the right thing,” Mr Silungwe said. “…So the issue of Mumbi Phiri is some kind of punishment on her and PF members hence not cause listing her case,” Mr Silungwe said.
