THE people of Kabushi constituency are annoyed with the United Party for National Development (UPND) and are going to give the parliamentary seat back to the Patriotic Front (PF) even without the former ruling party campaigning, Bowman Lusambo has declared.

Mr Lusambo, the former Member of Parliament for Kabushi under the PF said the people of Kabushi had seen through the lies of the ruling party and were ready to vote for the former ruling parry and teach the UPND a lasting political lesson.

Mr Lusambo, the former Lusaka Province Minister told the Daily Nation that the people of Kabushi were already decided to retain him as the MP because of the suffering they were going through under the new dawn administration.

He said Kabushi constituency was not like any other and that the UPND would have to run for its money because he was ready and equal to the task to deliver the seat back to the PF.

Mr Lusambo said the UPND had promised Zambians that things under their rule would be better, cheaper and easier but that the governing party had dismally failed to meet the expectations of the people whose livelihood had become more difficult than ever before.

He stated that the Kabushi parliamentary by-election was going to be a litmus test for what was ahead for the UPND because according to him, the PF was far ahead and the election would only be a formality of fulfilling the fixtures.

“The people of Kabushi are angry with the UPND. Zambians generally are so disappointed with the ruling party because life has become more difficult under the UPND. People in Kabushi have no money, have no food…there are no medicines in hospital and clinics. They have demanded that I should stand again and are ready to vote for the PF even without me going for campaigns. I was elected and they have again spoken. The voice of the people is the voice of God and we are not going to allow that democracy is disturbed,” Mr Lusambo said.

He explained that during campaigns, all those canvasing for votes promise what they would deliver to the people and wondered why his promises in Kabushi were considered as electoral malpractice and yet the UPND was also promising.

Mr Lusambo said it was frustrating for the people in his former Constituency because most of the developmental programmes had stalled because his election had been challenged.

“Let us go to Kabushi and face each other. I can assure you that we are far ahead of the UPND. The PF is a non-violent party and it is our expectations that the UPND will respect the electoral code of conduct,” Mr Lusambo said.
