Champion peace, Kambwili urges PF top job contenders

By NATION REPORTER

THE Patriotic Front should be more than united now as it begins the process of selecting a new leader that will take over from former republican president Edgar Lungu, Chishimba Kambwili has said.

Mr Kambwili said that all those that met the criteria needed to exercise their democratic right but that they needed to ensure that peace was maintained at all costs.

“The party needs to be very united during this period of transitioning if we are to bounce back in government come 2026,” he said.

And when quizzed about his contesting the presidency, Mr Kambwili said he would cross the bridge when he got there.

Meanwhile, Lundazi Member of Parliament Brenda Nyirenda has expressed interest in taking over the mantle from Mr Lungu.

“This is a great opportunity for us women to embrace. Zambia has never had a woman president. Though broke but the spirit is willing. Donations can start now. Let us make our own leader who will be humble,” she said.

The PF has advertised the position of president and that the fees are pegged at K100, 000 for women and K200, 000 for men and that the closing date is Friday, October 28.
