SOCIALIST Party President Fred M’membe has urged Zambians to denounce the US military base which has allegedly been set up in the country.
Dr M’membe said although the UPND government had refuted allegations of setting up a military base in the country, Zambians were aware that the reality was different.
He stated that allowing the US military base in Zambia would be an attack on the country’s sovereignty and democracy.
He advised Zambians to protect the country’s democracy by denouncing the setting up of a military base in the country.
He said Zambia’s freedom fighters had struggled to claim democracy and that the decision by Government to allow the United States to set up a military base should not be tolerated.
Dr M’membe said what the UPND was doing was killing the democracy which the country fought for.
Dr M’membe indicated that Zambians needed to reject manoevres that had potential to destabilise the country’s peace and stability.
