FASHION SAKALA

By MICHAEL MIYOBA
AMBIA national soccer team striker Fashion Sakala says the Chipolopolo are determined to bring back the happy days for the passionate Chipolopolo fans who have been starved of good results by the team.
Speaking after the second international friendly game against Mali which was cancelled in the 19th minute due to heavy rains, Sakala said the team would give Zambians the results they deserve to bring back exciting times.
Sakala, who features for Glasgow Rangers in Scotland, urged the fans not to give up on the Chipolopolo and continue to support them.
“We know Zambians love the sport and we are going to work hard to give the results they deserve and make sure that we start winning games and bring back happiness in the country.
“What I can ask is that they should continue supporting us. We are not going to stop asking because we know how important it is to have our fans behind us. And hopefully in the next game we are going to play in Zambia, it will be nice to see the stadium full to capacity,” Sakala said.
He said the friendlies against Mali were important as they helped the team to assess where they need to improve going into the AFCON qualifiers scheduled for March next year.
“We have important games in March and this was important to keep growing and what we have built is a very good team. A team that works together. The discipline I have seen in the squad is very impressive,” Sakala said.
And young Chipolopolo defender Miguel Chaiwa hailed the technical bench which was led by assistant coach Moses Sichone for calling him and giving him a chance to continue developing as a young player.
Chaiwa turns out for Switzerland giants Young Boys FC.
Meanwhile, Sichone has urged players to keep working hard as they return to their respective clubs where they need to fight to play regularly for them to be in good shape for the next national team assignment.
On the friendlies, Sichone said; “It was a good trip despite having lost the first game and like I said after the first game, it was a good experience seeing the way the guys performed. I’m happy with the performance and the effort the players put in.”
