A VIOLENT UPND Mazabuka youth chairperson Bright Hamweenda has been suspended from the party for allegedly assaulting the mayor, Mr Vincent Lilanda and his wife after a misunderstanding at Mazabuka Golf Club last weekend.
Mr Lilanda, who with his wife were coming from their farm, were allegedly beaten by the party official as they were buying takeaway food at the club.
According to the suspension letter, signed by district acting chairperson, Josias Nakapepa and district secretary and copied to the party’s secretary general, Mr Batuke Imenda, Southern Province chairperson Billiard Makwembo and others, Mr Hamweenda has been suspended under article 70 (c) of the party constitution.
Meanwhile, Mr Lilanda, who has demanded for justice in the matter says he is ready to sacrifice his life for the peace of the residents of Mazabuka.
He said a lot of people in Mazabuka have suffered at the hands of Hamweenda who is fond of beating whoever disagrees with him.
