PATRIOTIC Front presidential hopeful Chishimba Kambwili has said he can never go back to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) because he is PF, and has bigger plans for it.
Mr Kambwili in an interview said he respects NDC leader Ms. Saboi Imboela but has already decided to be a PF member and he is now on the list of the presidential candidates who will be contesting for the top position.
Responding to Ms. Imboela’s statement in which she said he was welcome to join the party but not as president, Mr Kambwili stated that he is not thinking of going back to NDC as he is standing for the PF presidency.
“Why should I have plans to go back to the NDC if am standing under the PF, I have no intention, I respect madam Imboela but I can never go back. I am a PF member and will continue to be one until I serve the Zambians,’’ he said.
Earlier, Ms. Imboela in an interview said she had no issues with Mr. Kambwili despite the political differences they had, he was still welcome to join the party as a member.
“With politics anyone is free to join our party because NDC is free for everyone, it is a party of order and its mandate is to follow the provisions set before it, Mr Kambwili is a free man to join us, he is welcome anytime, our doors are open,’’ Ms. Imboela said.
But Mr. Kambwili disclosed that he can ever go back as he is preparing for the presidential seat under the Patriotic Front and is hopeful to serve the people.
“I left NDC in 2021, I am now PF, I want to concentrate on my standing as president not me joining another party which I cannot do,” he said.
Ms. Imboela added that Mr Kambwili was now a member of the Patriotic Front and was contesting on a presidential seat, but if anything goes left he is free to go back to his former party.
“As NDC, we have realised that Mr Kambwili is now PF, we don’t have any plans of him coming back taking the presidency position, but he can be a member.”
