Auxiliary Bishop Gabriel Phiri’s ordination timely – Chilufya

PATRIOTIC Front (PF) presidential aspirant, Chitalu Chilufya says the ordination of Chipata Diocese Auxiliary Bishop Gabriel Phiri is timely when there is need to facilitate dialogue between the church and Government.

Dr Chilufya said it was important for the church to partner with Government in facilitating dialogue and advocacy for a morally sound society with enhanced livelihoods.

Speaking in the aftermath of the consecration mass, Dr Chilufya who is former Minister of Health, said Bishop Phiri’s ordination came at a pivotal time when the interplay between the church and government must be redefined.

“We joined His Lordship Bishop George Lungu, the clergy and the faithful of Chipata Diocese at an auspicious occasion witnessing the solemn consecration rite of Monsignor Gabriel Msipu Phiri to the sacred office of Auxiliary Bishop of Chipata Diocese,” Dr Chilufya said.

He conveyed hearty congratulations to Bishop Phiri and prayed that God should endow him with wisdom, grace and ever deepening holiness in supporting Bishop Lungu in guiding the flock entrusted to his care

“Monsignor Phiri’s ordination comes at a pivotal time when the interplay between the church and Government must be redefined to facilitate dialogue and advocacy of a morally sound society with enhanced livelihoods,” Dr Chilufya said

On Sunday, Bishop Phiri was consecrated to the sacred office of Auxiliary Bishop of Chipata Diocese during a mass attended by President Hakainde Hichilema, Government officials and opposition leaders.
