Mr Kabimba said UPND has lost popularity in just two years of being in government because they have chosen to implement things that were different from what they had promised the people.
He UPND was not talking about the issues of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) when they were in the opposition, they focused on issues of bread and better and the people were happy because they thought they would be having affordable meals.
Mr Kabimba said now that they were in power there was a deliberate shift in the attention of people from the aspect of lifting their standards of life to issues that only have impact in the long-term.
“I don’t remember a lot of emphasis In the run-up to the 2021 election on CDF, employment of health workers, Hakainde Hichilema’s emphasis was on issues of bread and butter and correctly so,” he said.
He said what president Hichilema promised Zambians was to lower the cost of living and create employment opportunities for the youths and everybody was happy with him.
Mr Kabimba said picking on the figures there were more unemployed youths now than they were in 2021 and there were more people who could not afford the price of mealie-meal now than it was in 2021 before the elections.
He said there were more people who were dying today from preventable diseases due to lack of drugs resulting from the degenerating health care system under the UPND that it was the case in 2021.
Mr Kabimba said the issues of food that were supposed to define a government that has delivered have not been dealt with hence the loss of hope by the people in the UPND administration.
