ZMA warns health workers on use of artificial intelligence

THE Zambia Medical Association (ZMA) says there is need for health practitioners to be wary on how they use artificial intelligence (AI) to avoid compromising the health sector.

ZMA Secretary General Oliver Kaoma said while AI was helpful for research and reference purposes, it was important for health practitioners to try by all means to avoid using it to diagnose ailments.

Dr. Kaoma said ZMA had been receiving reports over some health practitioners using AI to diagnose diseases.

He said this was unprofessional and that it had potential to compromise service delivery in the health sector.

Dr. Kaoma said AI should only be used for references and not a basis of diagnosing ailments, adding that not all information found on the internet was accurate.   CLICK HERE TO READ MORE
