WARRIORS HOLD ZANACO

ZANACO’S quest to defend the MTN/FAZ super league title suffered a minor setback after the Numba Mumamba-tutored Barclay’s Cup champions recorded a 2-2 stalemate with five times league champions Kabwe Warriors yesterday at Godfrey “Ucar” Chitalu Stadium in Kabwe.
Warriors began the week 33 fixture on a brighter note and stunned the Barclay’s Cup champions four minutes into the first half when Bibo Bindu beat Zanaco goalkeeper Toasta Nsabata to put Warriors ahead.
Zanaco tried to get back into the game with their three lethal top men – Heritier Nkonko, Felix Nyaende and Augustine Mulenga – who missed a number of chances which could have seen the defending champions leveling the scores.
Midfield maestro Isaac Chansa however rescued Zanaco when he found the back of the net four minutes before half time to make it 1-1.
Zanaco maintained their brilliant form in the second half with striker Felix Nyaende putting the bankers ahead for a 2-1 scoreline.
Warriors did not give up and were able to level matters in the dying minutes of the game for the two teams to share the spoils.
Meanwhile ,Barclay’s Cup silver medalists NAPSA Stars suffered a disappointing home defeat from “Mighty” Mufulira Wanderers who walloped the pensioners 2-1 to collect maximum three points and increased their chances of surviving
relegation from the super league.
“Mighty” approached the first half with a lot of caution and stunned the home team through Guilt Manziba who found the back of the net four minutes
before half time.
The pensioners responded four minutes later with Dickson Chapa making it 1-all. Weyne Museba’s 63rd minute strike was enough to see “Mighty” walk away with the three points at stake.
The loss did not please NAPSA Stars technical bench who accused referee Stanley
Hachiwa of poor officiating.

Dynamos maintained their winless streak after suffering a 3-0 defeat to the Zambia Army sponsored Green Buffaloes at Arthur Davis Stadium in Kitwe.
The win pushed Buffaloes to third on the log with 60 points, two points behind leaders Zesco United who are on 60 points.
At Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola, 12-times league champions Nkana laboured to a goalless draw against their Copperbelt rivals Buildcon FC while relegation bound Real Nakonde and Lumwana Radiants recorded a barren stalemate at the New Nakonde Stadium in Nakonde.
Green Eagles humbled relegation threatened Konkola Blades 1-0 while at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka, Red Arrows beat
Nakambala Leopards 1-0.
Action returns today with Zesco United taking on Zambia Police Service sponsored Nkwazi while Lusaka Dynamos face relegation bound City of Lusaka in the second fixture of the double header at National Heroes
Stadium in Lusaka.
