The Walvis Bay Corridor Group (WBCG) is a Public Private Partnership focusing on promoting the Port of Walvis Bay as the preferred trade route for imports and exports of Southern Africa. In order for us to support our business development drive at the WBCG we require the services of a dynamic and Energetic individual to take up the challenge of heading our branch office in Lusaka, Zambia.

Main responsibilities

Reporting to the CEO, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Increase sales for the Port of Walvis Bay and the WBNLDC In Zambia & Malawi;
  • Build up and maintain a database of clients and potential clients;
  • Determine the most Important Industries for potential Imports/exports/industry clusters;
  • Identify partnerships with Important stakeholders and Inform shippers, logistic companies and the Zambian Business community of the opportunities for the Port of Walvis Bay  and other opportunities along the Walvis Bay-Ndola-Lubumbashi  Development Corridor;
  • Provide concise overview on country economic developments;
  • Develop business development strategies to enhance the growth of the corridor development as well as retain and expand the customer base.
  • Ensure robust stakeholder relationships with all clients;
  • Facilitate the Integration of the WBCG Into the logistics community by using effective marketing and  Communication activities;
  • Ensure proper coordination, planning & reporting on new developments and market changes;
  • Liaise with WBCG members on new business opportunities and linking them with potential clients In the Market;
  • Assist with the submission of logistics chain solutions, operational proposals and quotes;
  • Provide monthly reports on the activities and ensure weekly contact with the Chief Executive Officer.

Requirements

Minimum Education and Professional Requirements:

  • Grade 12 with a business degree/diploma In marketing or any other equivalent relevant qualification;
  • 5 years In the field of sales/marketing/business development In transport and logistics;
  • 3 years minimum at Supervisory/Management level, acquaintance with multidisciplinary work;
  • Ability to act Independently with various stakeholders and be self-motivated;
  • Strong communication skills at all levels.
