Serious security concern for Zambia
Dear Editor
By refusing to resign the Inspector General of Police Kakoma Kanganja must offer the people a very convincing reason why the situation Mongu occurred.
He must also offer an explanation why his men are failing to cage the Watchdog and Mast newspaper which are spewing lies and hatred every day.
It is a known fact that FAKE NEWS is a ground upon which Facebook will suspend an account. Why are our police failing to inform these international internet platforms about this?
We must have internet experts who can very easily identify the sources of these fake stories to bring them to book while alerting the platforms to suspend those institutions that are only interested in causing confusion in our country.
Surely we have experts who know the difference between a proper newspaper and the Mast which has embarked on a campaign of disinformation which is being allowed to grace our streets with impunity and total disregard for the truth.
It must be remembered that it takes only a few negative people to cause maximum harm to the country. Lessons must be learnt from the havoc that extremists are wreaking in Europe by driving into congested public places to cause death and injury for the sole aim of perpetrating a sense of terror and unease in the society.
The same is being allowed in Zambia. A few people with evil intentions are being allowed to publish falsehood for the sole purpose of causing disaffection and alarm.
It is a known fact that the Mast is the same as the Post and yet the Police allow them to publish false reports of Catholic women in Kitwe rising to support the Post. How can church women in Kitwe do this? It is impossible and yet the Police look away while the public is left to feed on malicious falsehood.
Our experts in security institutions must now take it upon themselves to protect this country from troublemaker. We have only one country to protect. If something happens we will have ourselves to blame.

Hakainde Hichilema’s arrest
Dear Editor,
Whichever way you look at it, UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema and his deputy Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba (GBM) crossed the lines of PF administration’s patience and tolerance when they disrespected the Head of State by refusing to clear passage for his motorcade in Mongu on his way to Limulunga during the Kuomboka ceremony.
How dare they do that? That was simply a horrifying antagonism. The police officers now consolidating their hold on the arrested and charged UPND leader would need to act forcefully to ensure there isn’t a rash of reprisal public revolt in the opposition party’s strongholds of Southern, North-Western and Western provinces.
The innocence for the actual arrest of the UPND leader is, inevitably, being keenly claimed by UPND spokesperson Charles Kakoma who suggested that
Hakainde Hichilema and his convoy were not aware of the presidential motorcade, otherwise they would have given way, but the video footage tells a different story, and UPND spokesperson would struggle to convince President Edgar Lungu’s most ardent supporters that this wasn’t some sinister plot to embarrass or harm the Head of State.
Still, the general mood in the nation as far as one can judge, is one of widespread relief. Let’s see how long that lasts. Hakainde
Hichilema’s arrest must be a lesson and warning to other disrespectful UPND honchos who are still hiding in their expansive mansions in the leafy suburbs of Lusaka.
The police officers’ intervention in the Mongu presidential motorcade debacle saved Zambian democracy – a response to those who believe that democracy in Zambia is just an illusion.
It is about time we rolled out the red carpet and began to treat the police troops like returning war-time heroes from the battlefront.
While the police officers were doing the national security job, the UPND cadres were active in far-away Mongu, dining and massaging Hakainde Hichilema’s post-election bruised ego by shouting insults at them.

Bo Jack Mwiimbu, take it easy
Dear Editor,
I have always held UPND strongman Jack Mwiimbu in higher esteem until today.
For him to make such a serious allegation that the State has poisoned HH, I just could not believe myself considering that the man is a lawyer who should know better.
He may be bitter that his kinsman is in trouble, but it will not help much if he becomes emotional because soon the truth will catch u with hum and he will walk with his head down.
HH may appear sick because the environment he is now in is totally different. It is not his home which had full of luxuries.
He is now in a totally new world and for him to adjust he will have to go under some kind of ‘metamorphoses’.
Like I said before, HH wasted his time on President Lungu instead of going in other 7 provinces where he faired poorly to convince the people that he was a right alternative to President Lungu.
But he instead chose arrogance and hate towards President Lungu and his government which for me it was a total waste of time because nothing was going to change in his favour.
Isn’t really funny how pride goes before a fall.

Moffat Bwalya, Bauleni
“The Way the Cookie Crumbles”
Dear Editor,
When I read the story in the Mast by Mr Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba “They will pay the price” I laughed my lungs out.
I just do not know why some people are simply born unhappy and will stop at nothing to make sure that others suffer with them.
If UPND wanted to have a national character by embracing Mr Bwalya then, for me it was a poor choice.
Mr Bwalya as we all know him is an extremely obnoxious man who cannot give anyone sound advice, even to HH.
This is more the reason HH is in this kind of problems today. He lacked serious and sound advisors to give direction to the party which has now been restricted to 3 provinces.
That is deprived way of doing things because for HH to hit State House he needs the support of all 10 provinces. It is as simple as that.
When I look around I think I can clearly see who is paying the price already for arrogance and hate speeches.
This is just the beginning of the end of UPND. I predicted HH’s trouble, and it has come to pass.
Now watch the way UPND will crumble. James Hardley Chase would have called it “The way the Cookie Crumbles”
