A 25-YEAR-OLD man of Livingstone’s Nottie Broad compound yesterday murdered his wife in cold blood using a knife after a domestic quarrel and is on the run.
Southern Province commissioner of police Bonny Kapeso said the incident happened between 03:00 and 04:00hrs and named the deceased as Mulambo Mampelela while the assailant has been identified as Gilbert Sikanda.
Mr. Kapeso said the deceased sustained a deep cut on the neck and that investigations to ascertain what happened had commenced while a docket had also been opened for Mr. Sikanda.
“A 24-year old housewife of Livingstone’s Nottie Broad has been murdered by her husband after she was stabbed in the neck using a knife. She has been identified as Mulambo Mampelela while her husband has been identified as Gilbert Sikanda, 25, both of Nottie Broad area in Livingstone.
“The incident happened between 03:00hrs and 04:00hrs early this morning (yesterday) at house no.52, in Nottie Broad compound. The deceased sustained a deep cut on the neck and the suspect is currently on the run,” Mr. Kapeso said.
He said the body for the deceased was in Batoka hospital awaiting post-mortem.
“The body of the deceased is in Batoka hospital awaiting post mortem. Police have opened a docket of murder and investigations are under way,” he said.
