ZAMBIA Education Publishing House (ZEPH) has been sued for over K1million in outstanding payments for supply and delivery of various printing products supplied by Phyramid Solutions Limited.

According to a statement of claim filed in the Lusaka High Court yesterday, Phyramid Solutions are demanding immediate payment of K1,060,691.23 plus 24 percent interest as part of their business deal.

“Between 4th December 2015 and 24th June 2016 the defendant (ZEPH) pursuant to its Local Purchase Orders (LPOs) number 4397,4453, 4394, 4550 and 4588 did order various printing requirements which included among others toners, drum units, board and gloss paper of various qualities, gum solution, fountain solution and roller wash solution.

“The plaintiff did, pursuant to the various LPOs, supply and deliver all items ordered by the defendant with the total value of K1, 1061994.07 of which the defendant has only paid the sum of K257, 369.52,” they submitted.

The company explained that it was part of their agreement that ZEPH would pay via check the remaining balance within a period of 60 days from the date of final delivery of all the products on order.

Phyramid has explained in their submission that despite numerous reminders of the balance being owed, ZEPH has neglected to settle the outstanding balance, resulting in loss and damage to their business.

“The plaintiff now claims payment by the defendant to the plaintiff of the amount of K1,060,699.23 outstanding balance for the supply and delivery of various printing products.

“Interest at current Bank lending rate on any and all amounts found to be due and owed to the plaintiff, and costs and any relief the court may deem fit,” they have submitted.
