By BENNIE MUNDANDO

THE family of former President Frederick Chiluba is disappointed that little is being done to address estate issues resulting in confusion and discord in the family.

A senior member of the family, John Kapapi said he was disappointed that there are people who are trying to destabilise Dr. Chiluba’s family by sowing division among his children there-by undermining the legacy of their father.

Speaking to the Daily Nation yesterday, Mr. Kapapi, who is Dr. Chiluba’s elder brother, said the former president’s children were almost in disarray because some people had infiltrated the family by instigating dissent and intolerance among them.

He said it was unfortunate that the children were at loggerheads with each other as a result of the seed of hatred some people had planted.

Mr Kapapi appealed to President Edgar Lungu to intervene by getting to the bottom of the issue and understanding exactly where the antagonism was coming from.

He said what was happening was an embarrassment to the former Head of State’s family legacy where people were fighting over property.

He said there was need for a thorough investiga-tion into the source of the bickering and fish out the people behind it, whether they were family members or outsiders so that they stopped bringing shame and embarrassment to the Chiluba legacy.

“As Dr. Chiluba’s elder brother, I am very disappointed with what is happening to my brother’s family with regard to the bickering that has characterised the childre a clear indication that there were people trying to bring unnecessary confusion in the family by inciting the children.

This has brought embarrassment and shame to the family and I am personally not happy with what is going on. “As things are, I can only appeal to President Lungu to intervene and find out exactly what is going on and find a way of resolving the issue once and for all. I don’t care who is doing this, whether it is influence from within or outside the family, those culprits who are bringing confusion in the family must be identified and dealt with severely so that this issue can be buried permanently,” Mr. Kapapi said.

He urged Dr. Chiluba’s children to find common ground for resolving their differences amicably and preserve their late father’s legacy as fighting each other would not help them in any way.
