ABDUCTED Hatembo sibling, Pheluna is on the verge of losing her only remaining property, a house in Kamunza compound in Choma after failing to pay a K45, 000 loan and accrued penalty fees to a micro finance company.
This is the same house where her bedridden daughter Nasilele is being kept and looked after by Pheluna’s eldest daughter, Abigail.
Family spokesperson Lucky Muchimba complained in an interview that despite the family paying the principal amount of K15, 000 to the local credit group, Community Business Organisation (CBO), the lender has refused to waive the penalty fees amounting to K30, 000.
He said the CBO has informed the family and threatened to auction the house to recover their money.
“Once the house is sold we don’t know where Nasilele and Abigail will go as this is the house where their mother Pheluna left them,” he said.
Mr Muchimba said Pheluna has no other property apart from the house and therefore there is a likelihood that the sick daughter and her elder sister will be thrown into the street once they are driven away from the house.
Mr Muchimba said the abduction of Pheluna and her brother Milton has left their immediate family without a breadwinner and are now depending on well-wishers for their survival.
With Pheluna being kept away because of the abduction, the interest on the debt has been growing, Mr Muchimba said.
