NG’ANDU Magande is an armchair critic and I challenge him to check his facts about which Government has successfully implemented the 750 megawatts Kafue Gorge Lower power project, says Chishimba Kambwili.
Mr. Kambwili said Mr Magande was daydreaming to insinuate that the power plant was implemented by the MMD when in actual fact the project was done under the PF government.
He said in an interview that it was on record that the project failed to take off during the MMD regime when Mr Magande was the minister of Finance until the time the PF came into power.
“Ng’andu Magande should check his facts, the project completely went quiet after the agreement was signed between the Zambian government under MMD and the Chinese government.
“It was the PF which looked for money and started the project, everybody knows that it was the PF which has put in the money in that project and not the MMD,” he said.
Mr. Kambwili was reacting to Mr Magande’s statement that the PF should not be quick to get all the glory over the completion of the power plant insisting that the PF was against the project while in opposition.
Mr Magande in his write up said the PF in 2007 vehemently protested the visit of the Chinese President Hu Jintao to Zambia to sign a memorandum of understanding to facilitate the implementation of the project.
