Buildcon cripple Green Eagles as Chambishi slaughter Crocs

TWO goals from Patrick Ngoma and Lubinda Mundia denied Green Eagles a chance to reclaim third spot on the Super League table after a 2-0 defeat to Buildcon in the second match of the double header at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
Green Eagles who needed a draw to move into top four faltered despite having dominated play with more than eight scoring opportunities having been created in the first stanza.
Defeat in Ndola shocked coach Aggrey Chiyangi who had hoped for a perfect start in the second round of the Super League.
“The only disappointing thing is that we have lost our first game in the second round but it was a good game because if you look at the team, we created about nine chances in the first half which is good. It means the team put in so much effort but again if you see the goals we concided, those are goals we could have avoided,” Chiyanga said.
After a goalless first half, Buildcon punished Green Eagles in the first minute of the second half when Ngoma found the back of the net with a perfect finish.
With his first touch in the second half after replacing Monday Bwalya, Ngoma went past two defenders before beating the goal keeper to give ‘Team Kopala’ the lead.
Buildcon doubled their lead in the 58th minute after Lubinda Mundia sent the goal keeper the wrong way from a penalty to give Buildcon a 2-0 advantage.
Green Eagles efforts to get back into the game saw them creating a number of chances which were not utilized as Buildcon held on to get a sweet win.
The win propelled Buildcon to seventh on the Super League table with 28 points, on par with Eagles who maintained fifth with 28 points as well.
Meanwhile, in the first game of the double header at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, Forest Rangers and Prison Leopards shared the points after a goalless draw.
The draw was tightly contested as both Forest Rangers and Prison Leopards traded carefully to avoid startung rhe second round with defeats.
At Godfrey Chitalu Stadium in Kabwe, Kabwe Warriors fought back from a goal down to draw 1-1 with Indeni FC who have now gone four games without loosing.
Striker Jimmy Ndlovu scored an 83rd minute penalty to cancel Graven Chitalu’s goal for Indeni, to rescue Chris Kaunda from beginning his reign as new Kabwe Warriors gaffer on a disappointing note.
At Chambishi Stadium, two second half goals from Chipili Mungule and Konga Konga inspired Chambishi FC to victory after coming from behind to beat Kafue Celtics 2-1.
Striker Albert Kangwanda had given Celtics a first half lead after finding the back of the net six minutes after the half hour mark.
However, Mungule leveled matter ten minutes into the second half before Konga converted a penalty in the dying minutes of the game to give Chambishi a win which redeemed their hopes of surviving relegation after moving to 18 points.
