By MICHAEL MIYOBA

NEWLY appointed Nkana FC coach Kelvin Kaindu is targeting an outright victory when the Kitwe giants take on Petro de Luanda from Angola in todays’ CAF Champions League fixture at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe.

Kaindu, took over from Manfred Chabinga who was fired despite having managed to qualify the team to the second round of the CAF games.

Kaindu took over the reins on December 15.  He said expectations are high for Nkana who are the only envoys in the CAF Champions League after Forest Rangers failed to go past the first round.

The new coach is motivated by “Kalampa’s” 2-0 win over Kitwe United in a Week-11 MTN/FAZ Super Division fixture played on Saturday.

He said the win in the Kitwe derby will inspire his players going into today’s game where Nkana will have to pick maximum points to stand a better chance of reaching the group stages.

“It’s all about tactics and I pray that our tactics will be right.

“The most important thing is to get a victory especially that we are playing at home and if we can add up to have an advantage in terms of the goals and to try as much to keep a clean sheet you know the advantage of an away goal,” Kaindu said.

“We are targeting to probably get an outright victory and hope that we keep a clean sheet and try as much as we can to defend to avoid the opponents getting an away goal but football being what it is, what is important is for us to get a victory and see how best we can close up the game,” he said.

Meanwhile, Green Eagles coach Aggrey Chiyangi said preparations have progressed well for today’s CAF Confederations Cup game against Coton Sport FC from Cameroon.

Chiyangi said he is not worried with the players’ fitness levels having been playing some games in the local Super Division.

Chiyangi said the technical bench has psyched the players on how to approach the game which is also a must-win for the ZNS-sponsored side to make it to make it to the group stage of the CAF Confederations Cup for a second consecutive season.

And Coton Sport FC coach Souleymanou Aboubakar said his team is used to play the Champions League and was focusing on getting a positive result against their Zambian opponents.

After playing Eagles at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka, Coton Sport will host the Zambian envoys on January 6 at Roumdé Adjia Stadium in Garoua, Cameroon.
